ZOMBIE Week: Z-Nation – Will the upcoming Syfy show rival The Walking Dead?

The US will see a new zombie show premiere on the 12th of September 2014 (other country air-dates not yet known), that show is called Z-Nation and will be, obviously, questioned about whether it can compete with AMC’s popular zombie drama, The Walking Dead, which returns for its fifth season this autumn.

The premise of Z-Nation is that, three years after a zombie plague demolished the USA, a group are transporting the last known survivor of the plague across an zombie apocalyptic american landscape in order to reach a lab that can possibly, with their blood, hope to be able to create a vaccine. However, this surviving victim has a dark secret that may put the whole group in danger.

The 13 episode first season will begin on the aforementioned date and it sounds promising. With a cast including Harold Perrineau, Tom Everett Scott, DJ Qualls, Michael Welch, Kellita Smith, Anastasia Baranova, Russell Hodgkinson, and Keith Allan, we hopefully will be in store for some damn fine zombie drama and action from Syfy. Can it compete with The Walking Dead? Well, that remains to be seen, but that is also a lot to ask considering how good, and how well recieved, The Walking Dead is among viewers. Still, there is room, plenty of it, for zombie shows on television, and with iZombie beginning in 2015, it looks like the trend isn’t about to end anytime soon.

So, roll on September, and let’s see what this has to offer!
